Despite strict traffic rules, car accidents tend to be an unfortunate frequent occurrence. For minor road accidents in Qatar, the government offers an online service to report them via the Metrash2 application.
The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team is here to tell you more about the accident report service and how to do so.
The service allows the two parties involved in the accident to skip waiting for traffic patrol officers or travelling to Central Traffic Investigation offices.
The service can be accessed via the Metrash2 application (iOS | Android).
The following criteria describe a minor accident:
Step 1: Log in to the application and enter the 'Traffic Services' section.
Step 2: Enter the 'Traffic Accident' section of the application.
Step 3: Once in the 'Traffic Accident' section, you may proceed to the 'Accident Registration' section.
Step 4: The first thing you will have to do is enter the location of your accident. Ensure your phone's location services are on, as the location will be picked up automatically.
On the same page, you will be able to add the car details of the first car that was involved in the accident. The required details include the plate number, owner QID & mobile number.
At this point, you will also be able to indicate if this is the car that is responsible for the accident or if it the car affected by the accident.
If both drivers disagree on whose fault the accident was, it can be indicated as 'Not Agreed'.
Step 5: Click on the 'Add Vehicle' button to add details of the other cars involved in the accident. For each car, you can indicate if it is the 'Responsible' car, the 'Affected' car or a car 'Not Agreed'.
Step 6: Once the details are entered, there will be a pop-up screen to review the car details. You can then click 'Continue' and proceed to the next section.
Step 7: The next thing you must do is enter photos of the accident. At least one photo indicating the car plate number will be mandatory.
Step 7: Once all photos are uploaded, your final step will be to confirm the accident registration through the pop-up that shows up.
Step 8: Once you complete your accident registration on Metrash2 app, you will receive an SMS from Metrash stating that your accident has been registered and that you will receive another message with the procedures to be followed.
Step 9: Once the accident registration is complete and confirmed via the SMS, the accident will be reviewed. Once the review is complete, you will receive an SMS from Metrash2/Ministry of Interior (MoI) instructing you to visit the insurance company.
Note: The insurance company you will be told to visit will be subjective to whose fault the accident is and the type of insurance you or other accident parties have.
