Umm Salal or Umm Slal is one of the municipalities in Qatar. Established in 1972, the landlocked municipality is surrounded by Doha, Al Daayen, Al Rayyan, and Al Shahaniya municipalities. Mostly rural and agriculture-inclined, it's also one of the smaller municipalities in terms of its size area-wise.
Umm Salal has an area of 318.4 sq. km. and a population of 90,835 according to the Planning and Statistics Authority 2015 Population distribution and population density by the municipality.

How far is Umm Salal municipality from Doha? From the Pearl monument along the Corniche, you can drive to Umm Salal Mohammed in approximately 22 minutes via Al Rayyan Road and Doha Expressway.
The two towers consisting of three levels are made of stones and cladded mud. Although both rectangular in shape, the western tower is shaped like a 'T'. They were built by Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, the founder of Umm Salal Mohammed village, in the late 1800s. The watchtowers are also called Umm Salal Mohammed Fort Towers.

Inaugurated in 2012, the park is Qatar's first Olympic park. You'll find the slogan 'Sport for Life' around the park which has plenty of sitting areas, a leaping fountain, mosque, toilets, cycling track, cafeteria, playfields, children's playgrounds, sandbox, and table tennis. You'll also find miniatures of popular landmarks in Qatar scattered around the park - Fanar, Al Khor Tower, Grand Mosque, and even Sheraton hotel just to name a few.
Although used to be a park that offers many amenities, the park has seen better days. There is no more train going around and the facilities are showing wear and tear. Despite that, the park is still a beautiful spot to go to especially if you have kids.
Bikes, barbeque, smoking, pets and littering are not allowed in the park.

Although labeled as I Park in Google Maps, the park's name is actually Ali bin Jassim Park. You'll see iPark signage outside the park which means that you can connect to WiFi for free by entering your mobile number on the Welcome page. You'll then receive an SMS notification with a PIN code which you can use to connect to the internet.
The small community park has a main plaza, covered playground, toilets, lots of shaded sitting areas, cafeteria (closed), and an open theatre area.

This central market is where you can find fish, meat, fruits and vegetables at more affordable prices. The fish market area is quite large and has a separate area for the display of seafood and the cutting/cleaning. It's best to head to Souq Umm Salal early morning on a weekend or go on weekdays.

This is one of the seasonal farmer's yards where you can buy fresh local produce directly from Qatari farms. The wholesale market is open-air and you can also find limited options for imported vegetables and fruits.
Please note that Al Mazrouah Farmers Market is open from Thursday to Saturday, 7 am to 4 pm during the winter to spring season.
Note: Al Mazrouah Farmer's Yard is open in Ramadan as a night vegetable market from 7 pm to 11 pm throughout Ramadan on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

According to the MME's municipality plan, Umm Salal will be connected to the Doha Metro via the Green Line in future expansion. There will also be a Town Center that'll cater to the community.
