An 80-meter water slide set to become the highest in the world plus 36 waterslides and rides - does it sound exciting yet? All ready to become the first entertainment destination of its kind in Qatar, Qetaifan Island North will have its own waterpark! It is not just any waterpark because it will span 137,000 square meters and be surrounded by six beaches, a hotel, a beach club, and a retail area.

Waterpark visitors will experience an intense adrenaline rush in the soon-to-be world’s highest water slide! Standing at a colossal height of 80 meters, the Icon Tower will have its distinct zone in the Waterpark.
Guests can reach the Icon Tower via a train passing through an overwater bridge that links the small island to Qetaifan Island North. Exciting premier rides await the guests, including a 26-meter-tall rotating water slide, the first of its kind in the region. All floors within the tower will be accessed by an elevator.
Inspired by the history of Qatar’s oil discovery, the ride follows a track through scenes explaining the process that oil undergoes from formation until its use in the modern world.
What makes the ride cool is the addition of special effects such as 3D mapping, Animatronics, Projection, Special Lighting, Heat, Vibration, Lightning, Drilling Machines, and Fog Screens. This results in an exciting and immersive ride filled with thrills and exhilaration throughout.
The attraction starts with an opening exhibition followed by the log flume ride starting inside a cave, and an exit exhibition area. It will be composed of two buildings and one ride tower.
The Edutainment Cave’s boat can seat a maximum of 16 guests and takes them on a ride through the cave, outdoors, and the Edutainment Tower!
The informative and interactive adventure ride is not just for kids but for the whole family, serving all age groups!
The ride will be designed in cooperation with the Museums Authority. This ensures that the ride’s quality and historical validity will be faithful to the Qatari perspective and culture of oil exploration and extraction.
The waterpark is part of Qetaifan Island North in Lusail City. It will be Qatar’s first entertainment and touristic island, making it a distinctive waterfront for the city. The whole island spans approximately 1.3 million square meters, and the projects’ area on the island extends to around 830 thousand square meters.
Sarner International, an award-winning Design and Audiovisual Studio, has been awarded the design and build contract for the Edutainment Ride. The British company is responsible for the design, building, and installation of innovative experiences for brands, museums, and theme parks worldwide. Atkins will design the Edutainment Tower.
Rixos International Hotels Group, famous for Land of Legends Waterpark in Turkey, will be managing and operating the waterpark, Icon Tower, hotel, and the Beach Club.
Qetaifan Projects Company, a subsidiary of Katara Hospitality, also signed a deal with WhiteWater West for the manufacture, shipment, and installation of the water park rides. WhiteWater, established in 1980, has been the world leader in designing and manufacturing complete water parks and attractions all over the world for over 35 years.
