Parks in Qatar are absolutely beautiful and offer respite to its dwellers. The people of Qatar also love visiting these places and have a great time with their loved ones. If you too fall into the list of park-lovers, allow us to introduce you to one of the newest parks in Qatar – the Post Office Plaza, which is located within Doha municipality, at West Bay! The ILQ team visited the park to get you all the details so that you have an amazing time during your visit there. Let’s go straight to all the things you must not miss seeing at the park here.
The first thing that will attract you is the beautiful green space in the park. The design of the plaza is inspired by Qatari postage stamps, pays homage to the Qatar Post building right next to it. It is done in such a way that three interconnected postal stamps will form the open spaces. This is surely a unique feature that you will not find anywhere else in Qatar. There is also ample seating area, spread across the park.
If you are a fan of street art, two marvellous creations await you at the Post Office Plaza. Created as part of the JEDARIART initiative by Qatar Museums, in partnership with multiple organizations. The goal of this initiative is to bring colour to the city walls with unique artworks from different artists in Qatar. At the park, you can find works of artists Maryam Al Maadhadi and Fatima Al Sharshani.
A well-laid, two-lane cycling track is present around the entire circumference of the park. You can also find walking and jogging tracks that go around the Post Office Plaza which comes as a delight for fitness enthusiasts, runners and cyclists alike. Visitors can also utilize the mini-gym area at the park too. It was yet to be opened for use when the ILQ team visited the park.
Find a mini hill and squiggly shaped grass areas at the centre of the park. This is a great attraction for kids as it is the perfect place to run about, climb up and down the hill, having a great time! You can also get an elevated view of the things around you and also might get to see the interconnecting stamps (pathway) from the top here.
Take photos of the tall buildings of the urban landscape and the Qatar Post building on one side and also don't miss to capture the perfect sunset during the evening hours while you’re there.
Visitors of the park can use the parking space of the Qatar Post building, located right next to it.
This is also a special needs friendly park with ramps and dedicated parking spaces connected to the plaza.
There are no signboards saying that pets are not allowed at the park and it was confirmed by the security guard of the car park to ILQ that pets are allowed at the park.
