Everything you need to know about Katara Beach

Katara Beach is one of Doha's most beautiful beaches and spans over 1.5 km. It's located in Katara Cultural Village and is a must-visit with children, family and friends because there are plenty of things to do to keep everyone busy. Here, you can participate in many different activities, take a walk or sit back and enjoy the view!

Note:

  • The family beach and the men's only beach have separate entrances.
  • Single men are not allowed on the family beach, and vice versa.
  • The family beach entrance is opposite Over The Counter cafe.
  • The men's only beach entrance is opposite The St. Regis Hotel Doha.

Why not spend a day at Katara Beach and soak in everything this spacious beach offers? You'll find a range of water activities, including kayaking, water skiing, parasailing, jet-skiing and more, that are easy to access.

Whatever you want to ride, it's there.

You can also try speed boat rides and dhow rides. Maybe now's a good time to try something new and exciting if you haven't. You can rent the equipment from the shack and head on out in the clear blue waters for some water-iffic fun!

You can also rent a sea pedal boat which will hold a maximum of four persons, a kayak or a canoe at Katara Beach. There's a shack in the middle of the beach at Gate number 8 where you will find all this equipment.

As per the staff at the beach, jet skiing and catamaran rides are unavailable at the moment, and the equipment is under maintenance. Please note that water sports are subject to change and depend on the availability.

Katara Beach safety tips

You must follow these safety tips while you are at Katara Beach so you and those around you can all stay safe and have a good time:

  • All activities depend on weather conditions.
  • Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children under 12 years are not allowed to do parasailing unless they are accompanied by an adult.
  • Children under 14 years are not allowed to water ski, wakeboard, kneeboard or ride the banana boat unless accompanied by an adult.
  • Children under 18 years are not allowed to ride the sea breachers or jet-skis unless accompanied by an adult.
  • It is compulsory to wear a life jacket for all water sports activities.
  • It is required to complete and sign the disclaimer form provided by the rental shack.
  • Skateboarding, rollerblading, bicycle, and scooter riding are prohibited on Katara Beach.

  • Beach No. 5: 10 am - 11 pm (only open during Fridays & Saturdays)
  • Beach No. 3 & 4: 10 am - 11 pm (throughout the week)
  • Note: Swimming and watersports end at sunset.
