There are many beautiful parks in Qatar that people love to visit with their family and friends to have a great time! One such park in Qatar, that is a crowd favourite is the Barzan Olympic Park. It is located across Al Shamal Road and as the name suggests, this park gives importance to sports. You can see the words ‘Sport for Life’, which is Qatar Olympic Committee’s tagline written all over the park. Let’s take a look at some of the must-see things at this beautiful park!

Note: As per COVID-19 restrictions set by the government, please make sure to abide by all precautionary measures such as wearing a mask, physical distancing and frequent hand washing and showing 'green status' on EHTERAZ application.

Please note that effective from Friday, 26 March 2021 the following restrictions have been imposed until further notice:

  • Closure of playgrounds and exercise equipment in public parks.
  • Beaches and the corniche, with gatherings being restricted to family members residing in the same house or two people as a maximum.

Iconic sculptures

This park has a unique feature that helps one in expanding their knowledge! Strewn across the park are different sculptures, representing some of the iconic landmarks in the country like the MIA building, Al Kout Fort, the Light House, The Grand Mosque etc! Walk around the park, read about the landmarks from the information tablets, installed right next to each of them and learn more about them! How cool is that?

Leaping fountain

The leaping fountain is one of the main attractions at the park. It is located right near the entrance and is lit up by lights, which can be enjoyed by both kids and adults alike!

Walking, jogging and train tracks

Beautiful jogging and walking tracks are present at the park, which go all around it. While taking your walks there, you will see the words 'Sport For Life' written at multiples places on the tracks. There is also a special train track for kids at QR 5/person, which is a great attraction for them, this train attraction is closed at the moment due to the current situation.

Expansive green lawns

You will find neatly mowed green patches of grass all around the park. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your time there! Are you ready?

There are plenty of covered seating areas at the park so you don't have to worry about avoiding the sun while you're here.

Children's play area

The children's play area is huge with all the attractions like slides, seesaws, ladders, rock climbing stations, etc! Kids will definitely love this area.

However, please note that the kids play area is closed at the moment due to the current situation.

Table tennis, floor chess and courts

As this park gives importance to sports to keep oneself active, there is a table tennis table, football pitch, volleyball, tennis courts and floor chess also available for the visitors. There is also a small race track area for kids, within the park. Please note that these areas are closed at the moment due to the current situation.

Apart from this, you can also find a small cafeteria inside for some snacks and refreshments. There is also a mosque and sandboxes within the premises of the park.

What is not allowed at the park?

  • Large bicycles are not allowed for people above 6 years of age.
  • Playing football on the grass for kids above 12 years is not allowed.
  • Skating and pets, smoking and barbecue are not allowed at the park.
  • Company workers can't gather inside the park.
  • The large football field is not for kids under 15 years.
  • The small football pitch is for kids between 5-15 years only, not allowed for ages above and below the mentioned ones.

There is a clear sign stating all of these at the entrance of the park.

    • Free for people with special needs, seniors above 60 years, children below 3 years.
    • Nursery, preschool and elementary school student's fee is QR 5/person.
    • Rates for the winter season (starting from September 1): Sat-Wed: QR 5, Thur-Fri: QR 10
    • Rates for the summer season (starting from April 1): Sat-Wed: QR 5, Thur-Fri: QR 5
  • Timings: Morning: 04:00 am - 09:00 am, Evening: 04:00 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Parking space: Available outside the park
