Would you believe there is a beautiful green oasis Al Rayyan Municipality, in Qatar? This is the Al Karaana Lagoon, where three artificial lagoons were created to store about 2.4 million cubic meters of treated sewage effluent coming from Al Karaana treatment plant. Here, you can spot different species of birds, fish, local wildlife, and flora.

Qatar sees a vast number of migratory birds every year. The best times are between February to April and September to November. Al Thakira Mangroves and Al Karaana Lagoon are great spots to see migratory birds in Qatar. Have you gone bird-watching before?

Go on a quest to find the desert rose

The Desert Rose is a naturally occurring cluster that is formed out of gypsum and sand grains. It is mainly found in sandy deserts and can be spotted off Zekreet in Qatar. Please note that some of these areas are protected and it is advisable to visit through tour operators only. Avoid picking up the desert rose in their natural habitat, as you might disturb the ecosystem.
