Learning a new language is always a great idea, especially if you're living in a country that speaks another language, like Qatar, for example. Arabic is the language of Qatar, and it's a great language to learn as it's spoken in many other countries, too.

Since you live in Doha and there are so many Middle Eastern countries around you to visit, it sure does help if you can approach the locals in their language and understand their culture better.

Where to Learn Arabic in Qatar

The Language Center offers courses in Arabic language and culture within a proficiency-based framework, founded on a communicative and task-oriented approach. Classes are student-centered and target the development of the various skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) with a special emphasis on fostering the cultural component in Arabic.

Arabic Course List

Beginning Arabic I-II

This course supports students in developing strong communication skills in Arabic. Beginning with a focus on reading, pronouncing and recognizing Arabic sounds, the course progresses quickly toward developing intermediate reading, writing, speaking and listening proficiency as well as cultural competence. By the end of the course, students are able to communicate with others about daily life topics, understand simple texts on familiar topics, and to actively use a vocabulary of approximately 600 words.

Intermediate Arabic I-II

This course introduces students to various topics in Arab culture in order to expand language skills, advance vocabulary acquisition, and build toward Intermediate High proficiency in all skills. Coursework focuses on helping students master and activate large amounts of vocabulary and utilize the root and pattern system to increase fluency and accuracy in communication. Students learn to develop their reading and listening strategies enabling them to comprehend the main ideas of authentic texts.

Advanced Arabic I-II

This course aims at helping students reach advanced proficiency in Arabic through language and content work focused on Arab history, literature, thought and other cultural manifestations. Focus is on developing active control of a large vocabulary and idiomatic expressions through communicative activities. Grammatical work focuses on complex grammatical constructions and demands increased accuracy in understanding and producing complex structures in extended discourse.

Educate Learning Centre

The Arabic Language programme is designed for Non-Arabic speakers living in Qatar: it aims to help them merge into the Qatari culture by building a solid foundation in the Arabic language and develop a conversational base for communication with Arabic speakers. The program is set into 2 main levels of the CEFR: A0 and A1.

The Foundation level ‘A0’ aims to help learners to obtain basic sentence structures by building phrases in Arabic such as: ‘asking directions, introducing themselves, ordering food, and giving instructions in Arabic’. Reading and Writing are a part of the A0 level.

The Conversational level ‘A1’ aims to improve learners’ communication skills, by expanding their conversational topics in different areas such as the workplace, going out to restaurants, cafes, events, and social gatherings where Arabic is the mean of communication.

The programme integrates the Qatari dialect and uses role-plays, audios, videos, and other methods to ensure that learners get the most of the programme.

Excellence Training Centre

This is a free training series that displays Arabic letters in living words and phrases, and teaches the learner the correct pronunciation with movements, stillness, and tide letters, and writes them in various positions. This series has been prepared by Dr. Bashar Mustafa Al Afyouni, Professor at the Center for Teaching Arabic Language to Speakers of Other Languages ​​at Qatar University, in cooperation with Professor Layali Ahmed Al-Druz, and is free of charge.

Loghati Centre

Loghati Centre provides beginner to advanced level Arabic courses for non-native and native speakers. Our programs are open to students from around the world, and are taught by experienced and qualified professionals.

Loghati Centre's Arabic for foreign learners programme targets foreign learners of Arabic from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. Also known as Fanar, this Islamic Cultural Centre is a great place to learn the Arabic language with courses that range from learning the basic Arabic alphabets to reading and writing the language proficiently in an interactive environment.

The Arabic course is split into five levels starting from the very basics of the alphabet, and progressing to a stage where the learner is proficient in speaking, reading, writing and listening. Designed to be simple and clear, the syllabus builds up the knowledge and ability of the learner in gradual phases, progressing to understanding all aspects of the language, by looking at conversation, verbs and their formation, and vocabulary

For registration, you will need:

    Tutor Me Now - Learn Arabic

    The Learn Arabic programme caters to students of all levels, ages, and backgrounds. It is designed to assist non-native speakers in both modern standard/classical Arabic and colloquial/conversational Arabic in a variety of dialects depending on student preference. The sessions are conducted on a one-to-one basis and are tailored to each student's individual needs, expectations, and requirements with an emphasis on:

    • Writing - Penmanship/handwriting, proper letter connecting techniques, sentence structure.
    • Vocabulary - Useful terminology and phrases essential to everyday conversation
    • Grammar - Adjectives, Pronouns, Nouns, Verbs, Subject/Verb Agreement, Gender Classifications
    • Reading and Comprehension
    • Conversation - Proper pronunciation and intonation

    Arabic lessons are provided at a competitive rate and can be held either at the student's place of residence or any convenient alternative location (i.e. library, coffee shop, etc.). Sessions vary in duration starting at a minimum of one hour, depending upon student availability, level, specific needs, and expectations. Learning materials can be provided. However, any books or other materials used by the student are welcome.


    Prices (per hour): group session of 2: QR 175 per person; group session of 3: QR 150 per person; group session of 4 or more: QR 125 per person. Private 1-to-1 session: $ 200 per hour.
