A few times throughout the year Qatar experiences sandstorms and dusty weather. It's a fairly regular occurrence that happens when winds pick up speed and are strong enough to lift grains of sands and carry them through the air. It can get quite dangerous as it obstructs visibility and can make it difficult to breathe.

Here are a few tips and instructions on what to do during sandstorms & dusty weather:

• Avoid direct exposure to dust and dirt.
  
• People who suffer from asthma or have recently undergone eye or nose surgery, are strongly advised to stay indoors.
• Wash your face, nose, and mouth frequently and thoroughly.
• Ensure that you wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to avoid dust from entering your respiratory system.
• In the event that dust gets into your eyes, do not rub them and rinse immediately with water. Make sure to wear protective glasses when going out.
