Al Gharrafa Park is another new addition to Qatar’s long list of beautiful parks. This is unlike any other park as it is the first air-conditioned park in the country.

As per the Public Works Authority "Ashghal", the park is located in Al Gharrafa on an area of about 50,000 square meters to serve around 3,000 daily visitors of all age groups. The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar announced the opening of Al Gharrafa Park to the public on 16th December 2021.

Note: Here are the updates on the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions effective 3 October.

  • Continuing to allow gatherings or sitting in public parks, beaches and the Corniche with a maximum of (30) people or family members residing in the same house.
  • It is allowed to practice individual sports such as walking, running and cycling, and allowing the opening of playgrounds and sports equipment in these places.
  • Allow the opening of toilets in parks specified by the Ministry of Municipality.

Air Conditioned Tunnel, Jogging and Walking Tracks

Cool tunnel, don't you think?!

Yes, you heard it right, the jogging and walking tracks at this park are air-conditioned. As you walk into the park you’ll get attracted to tunnels covered in vines and flowering plants which provide shade and cooling to the walking and jogging tracks.

As per Ashghal, it,

“has provided an integrated cooling and air conditioning system for pedestrian and jogging tracks throughout the park, ensuring the temperature is between 26°C and 28°C”.

This also enables park-goers to enjoy it even during the hot summer months in Qatar.

Islamic Mashrabiya-Style Structures

How amazing does this look?!

The tunnels have a beautiful design that is inspired by the Islamic Mashrabiya-style structures as per Ashghal.

These are installed to allow air circulation inside. The solar panels on top of the corridor generate electricity and also work as a plant fence.

Cycling Path or Bike Track

Bright blue cycling track that you can't miss!

At the park, you can also enjoy cycling at the beautifully laid blue coloured cycling path. It goes around the circumference of the entire park. Will you cycle here?

Kids' Play Areas

Many things for kids to enjoy here.

There are two kids' play areas located in different areas of the Al Gharrafa Park. The children’s play areas are divided according to age groups covering kids of ages 2-5 years and 6-12 years.

The design of these play areas also takes into consideration children with special needs. You can find different equipment such as zip-lines, slides, monkey bars, swings, sea-saws and more here! How fun is this?!

Exercise Areas

Exercise at the park and keep healthy.

At the park, there are two exercise areas namely Fitness Station Area 1 and Fitness Station Area 2, where people of all ages can go and try out the different exercise equipment to keep themselves fit and healthy.

Food Kiosks

Food kiosks that are yet to open.

There are four food kiosks located at the central area of the park. As of 22 December 2021, the food kiosks weren’t operational and as per the security staff at the park, they are due to open soon.

There are multiple drinking water fountains at the park that help visitors quench their thirst after a jog, run or play.

There are ample seating options and benches at different places around the park for you to take a break in between walks.

Toilet facilities are dedicated for male and female use.

There are two separate toilet facilities dedicated for male and female use that can be spotted as green façades at the park.
