Places where you can bike in Qatar

A medical practitioner would suggest that 30 minutes of moderate physical activity is required daily if you want to stay healthy. There are many ways to keep track of this, and biking is one of them.

The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team has put together some places, bicycle lanes and cycling trails that you can try if you want to bike in Qatar.

Places for beginners

5/6 Park

The 5/6 Park is known for the plant maze, street art, exercise areas, and Al Sumoud art installation, but it also features a 1.1 km bike route ideal for beginners.

It's a great place for casual bikers looking for a smooth cycling experience. The park also has bicycle parking slots if you want to take a break and enjoy the other facilities.

      Al Bidda Park

      Al Bidda Park is home to one of the best places for beginners to bike around and exercise. The park extends 5 kilometres for biking which allows you to have a smooth and worry-free ride while enjoying nature.

          Aspire Zone Park

          Aspire Zone Park has beautiful scenery, a huge pond, and fountains. It is also a great place for beginners with a 5-kilometre track.

              Doha Festival City (DFC)

              Doha Festival City's outdoor cycling track is another place where you can start your biking adventure. The bicycle lane can be easily followed and is created with all the safety features a biker needs to prevent accidents. Be sure to enjoy the beautiful landscaping around you.

              Hamad International Airport (HIA)

              Hamad International Airport's bicycle lane network is a great place to ride. For starters, they have more than 3 kilometres of bike lane where one can cruise and sweat it out.

              Places for advanced bikers

              Al Fuwairit

              To take your biking experience to the next level, you can bike at Al Fuwairit, located in the northern part of Qatar. The 5 kilometres trail starts in the middle of the desert with various uphill climbs along the way.

              The terrain is challenging, with the heat of the sun and desert getting the best out of your body as you make the downhill ride. Riding your bike along the coastal area of the beach makes the trip memorable.

              ​Al Kharrarah

              Al Karrarah is a desert paradise for off-road bikers in Qatar. Because of its far location, it is not frequented but is worth the travel. It is a vast open desert space with spots of greenery. There is much to explore and be one with nature.

              Barwa City XC Trail

              This is one of the newest cycling sites in Qatar, established by the Filipino Mountain Biker Community. It is located near the Barwa City neighbourhood complex and features a rough road track with slopes for an adrenaline-pumping experience closer to home.

              Olympic Cycling Track

              The 33 km Olympic Cycling Track holds the Guinness World Record as the longest continuous cycle path. It features 5 bridges and 29 underpasses to ensure non-stop riding.

              Places for extreme bikers

              Al Khor MTB Trail

              Al Khor is located on the northeast coast of Qatar, around 60 kilometres from Doha. Extreme bikers prefer this 5 to 7 kilometres trail because of its unpredictability.

              The terrains are tough to navigate. The deserted roads give a challenging feel for bikers who want speed. You must be precise here in your every turn because of the limited space in some parts of the desert. One wrong move could spell disaster. That's why professional expertise is highly recommended when navigating this trail.

              Camp Banayad

              There are many bike trails in Qatar, but this is one of the highly recommended ones if you like extreme adventures. This trail is technical and difficult to navigate. You might need a special skill to jump over the ramps and other structures on the trail. The terrain is unstable with rock formations.

              ​Singing Sand Dunes

              The Singing Sand Dunes offer terrain up to over 50m high dunes, thrilling cliffs, valleys, vast open terrain, caves, and much more for an exciting cycling adventure on your XC or fat bike. Featuring a steep, long descent, conquering the dunes on your fat bike will truly be an exciting adventure.

              However, only highly experienced cyclers are recommended to ride on this site.

              Tribu Barwa Trail

              If you're looking for a more extreme cycling experience without travelling too far, the Tribu Barwa Trail is one to check out! There are numerous man-made ramps and trails that cyclists can conquer and do tricks on.

              Zekreet

              If you're looking for beautiful views and extreme adventure, the Zekreet Peninsula should be on your list. This spot is popular for mountain bikers looking for a challenge.
