The pearl island guide

The Pearl Island is a magnificent development in Doha by United Development Company (UDC). It is a man-made island and as per UDC, is one of the largest real-estate developments in the Gulf. There are many things to see and do here and it is a wonderful place for foodies, tourists, and shopping-lovers alike! Here, you can find numerous coffee shops, restaurants, water-front retail spots, entertainment outlets, and more!

How to get to The Pearl Island?

While driving around The Pearl Island in your own car is one option you have. You can also take a taxi to get to your preferred location or even use public transport.

Get off at Legtaifiya station on the Red Line and Qatar Rail currently offers free metrolink bus M110 to Porto Arabia, Medina Centrale, Qanat Quartier. Buses run every 12 minutes. And the metrolink timings as per Qatar Rail is as follows:

  • Saturday to Wednesday: 6 to 23
  • Thursday: 6 to 23:59
  • Friday: 14 to 23:59

Revised service hours during the World Cup:

Please note that from 11 Nov-19 Dec (both dates inclusive), the service will operate according to the following schedule:


Saturday to ThursdayFriday
6 am-9 amBuses run every 12 minsNo Service
9 am-12 amBuses run every 12 mins
12 am-3 amBuses run every 24 mins
3 am-3:30 amBuses operate on demand from metro stations

The service will go back to normal operating hours from 20 Dec.

Qanat Quartier is a beautiful location within The Pearl Island. Get transported to Venice while you're here. You will be amazed to see pastel-coloured buildings with canals passing through them. The waterways and pedestrian paths are connected by stylish bridges. This is a great spot for some Instagram-worthy pictures. Stop and stare at the beautiful canals and take some amazing photos at the bridges here.

Make some music at the Piano Stairs

This is a hidden gem at The Pearl Island. Walk up and down the Piano Stairs and create some music. This is a fun place to visit for people of all ages!

Take a ride on the water taxi

Yes, The Pearl Island has water taxis operating from Porto Arabia, Gate 1. The service runs from 5 pm to 11 pm, every day and residents & visitors can enjoy this service alike!

The cost of one fun trip for a maximum of 10 people is QR 300, for 20 minutes. You can also avail their pick-up and drop services at QR 40 per person. For more details, contact: +974 4409 5279.
