A Residence Permit (RP) is issued to individuals working and living in Qatar. Residence Permits have a validity period that is subject to renewal or may be cancelled by the sponsor of the individual. The expiration date is also indicated on the front side of the Qatar ID or QID.
Individuals should renew their RP 3 months before the expiration date. However, there is a grace period of 3 months after the expiration date before the individual is subject to fines.
According to Hukoomi, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) allows individuals and companies in Qatar to renew residence permits online for 1 to 3 years. The service is available for Qataris, residents, and companies holding Qatari Smart ID Cards.

Once the employer or sponsor cancels an individual's Residency Permit (RP), the individual is given 1 month to either transfer sponsorship or leave the country.
Individuals may check their QID validity through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) website or Metrash2 mobile application.
Upon filling in the information needed, you will be taken to the documents information page linked to the QID number, where you will see the validity of your QID/Residence Permit and passport.
Once your visa or QID has been cancelled, your access to the Metrash2 app will be revoked.
