It is true that your happiness also lies in making the others happy, and there is no other bigger act of grace than giving, helping or volunteering for a cause. If you’d like to make a difference in Qatar, here are some feel-good things you can do or participate in.
Is helping animals your favourite cause? You can do so by volunteering at local shelters that are doing a wonderful job in helping the furry ones stay safe and healthy until they can find their forever homes. Walk the dogs, help clean the kennels, play with some cats or even give the dogs some extra belly rubs – they accept it all!
Teamwork makes the dream work and with a little bit of help from you as a volunteer, you can make a big difference. At QAWS, you can take up multiple tasks as a volunteer and some of them include cat care, dog walking, dog socializing, administrative work, PR etc. They also accept donations in cash and kind to keep the place running.

PAWS Rescue Qatar is a non-profit animal shelter that rescues and shelters stray dogs and cats. They rely on donations and volunteers to provide a safe haven for the furries. So, why don’t you lend a paw?

2nd Chance Rescue is a Qatari animal shelter with over 100 dogs and 75 cats. They rescue animals from cases of abandonment and abuse in Qatar. Volunteers can help walk the dogs, play with them and the cats too! You can visit them on Fridays and Saturdays from 3:30 pm until sunset to volunteer.

The Doha Environmental Actions Projects or DEAP Qatar is an initiative that is striving to fight pollution by organizing weekly beach clean up sessions. Their slogan is ‘Discovering Qatar with a purpose’ and they have made notable contributions to keep Qatar clean. Volunteer with them and let’s clear the litter!

Apart from volunteering, there are other ways to give in Qatar to help others and feel good too. Here are some of them.
Qatar has strict laws about organ donation. Organs can usually only be removed from the deceased with the permission of next of kin. This applies even if the deceased was registered as a donor before their death. The Qatar Organ Donation Center manages and administers organ donation programs in Qatar, in accordance with the Doha Donation Accord. Did you know a single pint of blood can save three lives? Every blood donor is a lifesaver. Help sick children and adults by donating blood at the blood Donor Unit at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Donate to cover costs of cancer patients by helping raise funds for their treatment through Qatar Cancer Society, which are expensive and cumbersome for a lot of them.
Wa’hab Qatar is an organization aiming to reduce food wastage in Qatar. They partner with food outlets and other charities to collect excess food and donate it to the beneficiaries. Let’s too, aim to reduce hunger and create smiles around us.
Tayf is a Qatar Charity run donation program to collect in-kind donations, including clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, electrical or electronic appliances, jewellery and cars. Education is the best thing you can give a child and Education Above All (EAA) is one such non-profit organization, founded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to contribute to the provision of quality education for all across the globe. One such program under the organization Educate A Child, to help children and families overcome the barriers of education. Donate to this cause, if it is close to your heart.
Qatar Charity is a non-governmental charity organization that has been operational since 1992. It helps in providing humanitarian and developmental aid and relief to more than 110 million beneficiaries across the world. They have many initiatives and programs, focusing on different verticals and they also undertake many relief campaigns globally.
Qatar Red Crescent Society is a volunteer-based charitable organization that provides a wide range of developmental and relief services not only in Qatar but throughout the world too. You can donate to one or more of their causes, or something that is close to your heart and help someone in need.
