Do you want to learn how to drive? Or maybe want to take a refresher driving course? There are many driving schools in Qatar to choose from that can teach you both theory and practical lessons, as well as prepare you for the exams that you need to undergo to get your driving license in Qatar.
The driving schools in Qatar usually have classrooms for the theory classes, training area, simulator training, eye test center, mosque, cafeteria, and a separate area for female students. Most driving schools also provide transportation to and from the driving schools to designated locations for their students.
Opened in 2006 as a part of Mowasalat Transport Company, Karwa Driving School (KDS) is the “only driving school in Qatar which has the capability to offer training solutions for personal driving licensing needs, personal road safety needs and industrial transportation requirements in the GCC region.”
KDS also provides free transportation as a complimentary service to its customers.
Operating since 2007, Al Khebra Driving Academy is ISO 9001-2015 certified and one of the preferred driving schools in Qatar. Their mission is "to train novice drivers and make the State of Qatar’s Highway Transportation System (HTS) safer, efficient and effective."
Established in 2003, Alijarah Driving Academy operates with a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and offers theory classes in English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu and Malayalam. The driving school also has its own mobile app.
According to its website, Dallah Driving Academy is one of the largest driving training schools in the country and has already more than 100,000 successful student graduates. They also have a child care center as part of their facilities (may be closed due to COVID-19 restrictions).
Opened in 1985, Doha Driving Academy offers driving training for all kinds of vehicles. It also has a huge fleet of modern vehicles and has an in-house file opening and license issuing facility. They also offer free transport service for students. According to its website, the driving school has a 90% passing rate.
Since 1989, Gulf Driving School has been providing driver & rider training to its individual customers and corporate clients. Gulf Driving School conducts lessons in English, Arabic and Urdu.
United Driving School offers comprehensive and fully organized driving training sessions since 1997. They cater to Arabic, English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Singhalese speaking people.
Driving school fees vary and can change anytime but according to the fees posted on the websites, the light driving course starts at QR 2,550 (half) and the motorcycle driving course starts at QR 1,250 (half). Aside from the course fees, driving schools may ask for fees for learning permit, test fee, theory, and more. It's best to inquire directly at the driving school for updated fee structure.
If you're a beginner, you have to register for the Full Course and if you already possess a license from your country, you're eligible for the Half Course after you get approval from the MOI Traffic Department.
Eye test starts from QR 30.
You would need:
Some driving schools require a No Objection Letter from the Sponsor and a copy of Company Registration for employees.
You would also need to be at least 18 years old to apply for a light vehicle license and 21 years old to apply for a heavy vehicle license.
