Are you living in Qatar and do you have to change your personal details? Did you know you can now do it via the Metrash2 app? In collaboration with the Information Systems Department at the Ministry of Interior (MOI), the General Directorate of Passports launched the ‘Personal Data Change’ service through the Metrash2 app.

What do the new services do?

The new services will allow the general public to change their name and date of birth electronically (via the Metrash2 app) without using the Name Changing Committee at the General Directorate of Passports.

How to use this service?

• Login to the Metrash2 app.
• Next, click on 'Residency' and then click on 'Change Personal Info'. Here's where you'll apply for personal data change.
• Next, click on 'Apply Applications'.
• The next step is to type in your QID number and specify the required service: name change, date of birth change and fill in the details.
• Now, attach the required documents:
  • A written letter clarifying the reason for the change.
  • A copy of the old passport before changing.
  • A copy of the present passport after changing.
  • Birth certificate attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Once you complete the registration process, you will receive a message: "Your application has been registered successfully".

Please note that the application request can only be made from the State of Qatar.

Application tracking and follow up

• Select the application-tracking window and enter the QID number of the applicant or the application owner.
• After receiving the approval message, an approved form of the newspaper advertisement will be sent to your registered e-mail.

Please note that the newspaper advertisement shall be advertised in the newspapers accredited in the State of Qatar as per the language of the document used for the residence permit.

Attaching the newspaper advertisement

As per MOI, the applicant shall attach the newspaper advertisement after 14 days from its publication to complete the application process. Follow the below steps for the same:

• Choose the newspaper and the language according to the nationality registered in the identification documents.
• Next, fill out the required data and attach a copy of the ad, specifying its start date.
• You will receive a message stating that you have completed the process
