Travelling is fun and no matter where you’re going – whether it’s back home or to a new destination – you’re bound to learn new things, but it can also be a little daunting, especially at the airport. And, from my own personal experience, I feel that if I am not prepared for the airport run and what can and cannot happen at Hamad International Airport - HIA (or any airport), the rest of my journey is bound to be affected and more stressful.

So, here, we talk about some of airport life hacks that you can use at HIA to make your journey hassle free and easy!

1. Check flight status before heading to HIA

HIA has a great online live flight status section on its website where you can get minute-by-minute information on flights. To avoid having to wait for long periods of time at the airport because your flight is delayed, why not check before you leave the house to save you from this stress. Click here for HIA Flight Status.

2. Put coloured ribbons on luggage handles

This one is my absolute favourite. By putting coloured ribbons or pieces of cloth (preferably all the same colour) on your luggage, you’ll be able to see it as soon as it hits the conveyer belt at baggage claim, and it won’t get mistaken for someone else’s.

3. Put fragile stickers on luggage

Once it’s time to proceed to immigration, you may be daunted by the long queue of people waiting to pass through the immigration, especially in peak holiday season, so why not use the e-Gate with your valid Qatar ID.
