Qatar is known for its grand and resplendent celebrations of the National Day, Sports Day, Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha in the country. Apart from these, you may well know of the other public holidays like Bank Holidays and holiday for New Year’s Day.

But did you know that there are other days that Qatar recognises and marks as important days throughout the year? Here is a list of the lesser-known National observances in Qatar. Read more to find out!

    National Environmental Day in Qatar is observed on 26 February every year. It is a day marked to realize the importance of biodiversity in achieving environmental balance and sustainability in the country. Governmental, non-governmental, and community members in Qatar hold all kinds of activities to celebrate the major event.

    Qatar Family Day, 15 April

      Family Day in Qatar falls on 15 April each year. It was created at the invitation of H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al Missned, President of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, to identify the importance of family and its oneness in the State of Qatar and was approved by the Council of Ministers in 2011.

      National Cancer Survivors Day, 4 June

        Observed every year on 4 June, National Cancer Survivors Day in Qatar honours those who have fought and have overcome the disease. The day also spreads awareness among the public that cancer is not the end of life and they can overcome it with positive hope, proper care and fighting spirit.

        Qatar Patient Safety Week, September

          Organised by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Qatar Patient Safety Week, which is held in September every year, is aimed at raising awareness and spreading the importance of patient safety among all healthcare providers as well as the public across the State of Qatar. It is slated for the 2nd week of September this year.

          Qatar Human Rights Day, 11 November

            Qatari Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on 11 November in the country. It is a special day to remind everyone of the achievements of the State of Qatar to encourage the people of the society and institutions to do more to promote the human rights culture. This day sees participation from different organizations, all over Qatar.
