The State of Qatar will host the Road World Championships organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale Doha, from 9-16 October 2016.
Doha will host around 1000 racers from 75 different countries and more than 5700 participants, such as journalists and technicians, who will hail from national federations and delegations. In addition to the participants, around 30,000 fans and millions of spectators from all over the world will also be in attendance and watching.
In Doha, The Road World Championships will be different! RWC is an annual event that the UCI has been organizing since 1921 and was first held in Denmark. By hosting the RWC in Doha in 2016, Qatar will become the first country in the Middle-East to stage it and the second Asian country, after being hosted by Japan in 1990.
The experience will be totally different as it will be held here for the first time; the broadcasting will be through very outstanding parkour with the surroundings of the Arabian Gulf, Katara Cultural Village and the Pearl.
