Al Wakrah faces Al Arabi in Week 1 of the 2021-2022 season QNB Stars League. The kick-off is at 18:05 at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Sunday, 12th September 2021.

Al Wakrah’s ambitions, in the third season since graduating from the Second Division, will be to present a distinguished level and occupy a better position in the QNB Stars League table than their eighth-place finish last time around. They are all set to go under Spaniard Marquez Lopez, who has been coaching the side for some seasons now.

Al Wakrah will not want to repeat the scenario of last season when they suffered in the last rounds and faced a relegation threat at one point despite having a good start to their campaign. The team management supported the team with player recruitments.

On the other hand, Al Arabi has big ambitions in the 2021-2022 season and the team management has entrusted the coaching task with Qatari Younes Ali, a former national team player, as they seek to win titles. He replaced Icelander Heimir Hallgrimsson.

Al Arabi is one of the oldest Qatari teams and have won many titles, but have not been successful in recent years. Naturally, they target achievements in the new season.

The Dream Team have strengthened their ranks with a spate of new recruitments.

Al Wakrah consists of the likes of Algerian striker Mohamed Benyettou and young star Saoud Al Nasr, who scored a hat-trick against Umm Salal in Round 1 of the Ooredoo Cup last weekend.

Al Arabi boasts of striker Abdulqadir Ilyas, who recently joined them from Al Sailiya, new Gabonese recruit Aaron Bubendza, Tunisian Yousef Msakni and Iranian Mehrdad Mohammadi.
