Ooredoo is organising a number of activities in connection with Qatar Football Association’s H H The Emir Cup as the main telecommunications partner of the tournament.

As part of the company’s goals to promote sports in the community, the partnership was launched under the slogan, “The People’s Cup”, to encourage people to attend and watch the matches.

Ooredoo is organising two types of activities from May 8 to 17, between 4pm and 7pm in various locations. The first event will be a schools tournament of players between 7 to 10 years old, which will take place in Landmark Mall. The winning teams will receive prizes. The second activity will enable fans to play an exciting range of sports-themed games at PlayStation booths in Villaggio Mall and Souq Waqif, as well as take part in competitions and contests. The winning contestants will also receive prizes. After the final, Ooredoo will host a prize draw for the fans at the stadium, with the chance to win prizes.

Mustafa Al Qatami, Director, Branding and Corporate Communications, Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo is standing shoulder-to-shoulder and building a stronger relationship with Qatar’s sports fans by supporting H H The Emir Cup. We are proud to sponsor this most popular sporting tournament, because it is the last event of the season and we want to encourage the fans to attend the games and cheer on the sides.”

Khaled Mubarak Al Kuwari, Director of Marketing and Communications, QFA, said: “QFA and Ooredoo have a long-standing strategic relationship that witnessed many successes, last of which was its support for The Gulf Cup 21 in Bahrain. Ooredoo has contributed to the promotion of the 41st HH The Emir Cup through valuable ideas and initiatives, demonstrating their commitment to making this tournament a great success.”

Al Kuwari added: “QFA’s marketing strategy is based on giving the opportunity to sponsors to take part in and contribute to major events such as H H The Emir Cup. We have no doubt that Ooredoo will put in place very interesting and exciting activities for young fans and children who will be able to enjoy them at Landmark, Villaggio and Souq Waqif. Also, Ooredoo has put in place a media campaign to promote HH The Emir Cup and all the activities organised around it.”The Peninsula
