As the FIFA World Cup Qatar approaches, this lecture will address the historical aspects of the management, organization, and hosting of major sports tournaments in Qatar, as well as discuss the current situation and what Qatar looks forward to in the future.
This lecture is hosted by Dr. Daniel Reich and Dr. Mathias Krug. Dr. Daniel Reich is a visiting scholar at the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) and an assistant professor at Georgetown University in Qatar, where he oversees a research initiative on the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, and has collaborated with Paul Branagan on the writing of a book titled Qatar and the World Cup: Politics, Controversy and Change (Algrave Macmillan Publishing House 2022) and edited the book: "A Guide to Sports in the Middle East (Rottledge 2022). Dr. Krug is an academic and author of Journeys on the Football Carpet, the first book to be published on Qatar's inspiring journey to host the World Cup.Date and Timings:
