The 12th Pan Arab Games will take place in Doha, making Qatar the first Gulf country to host the multi-sport event.

The Arab Games features competitions in aquatics, archery, athletics, basketball, body building, beach volleyball, bowling, boxing, camel racing, canoe/kayak, chess, cue sports, cycling, endurance, equestrian, fencing, football, goalball, golf, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, para-athletics, para-table tennis, weightlifting, rowing, sailing, shooting, squash, table tennis, taekwando, tennis, powerlifting, wrestling and volleyball.

The games are held every four years and welcomes athletes from across the Arab world. The sport tradition dates back to 1947, when the first secretary general of the Arab League declared a need for a pan Arab games. The first games were held in 1953 in Alexandria, Egypt.

Competitions will be held in 20 venues across Doha:
