The First Annual Doha Conference on Applied Mathematics and Computational Science will be held from May 20 to 23 on the campus of Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) in Education City.

Internationally renowned scientists from China, Norway, Germany and the United States will be speaking on a variety of topics ranging from dynamical systems to immersive visualization to groundwater modeling. The conference is sponsored by TAMUQ, the office of the Vice President for Research at Texas A&M University, College Station, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Municipal Affairs.

"A variety of experts from around the world who understand the critical role of monitoring and modeling in these very difficult application areas will come together to discuss the important issues and share their knowledge, capabilities, expertise and experience in monitoring and modeling," said Dr. Richard E. Ewing, Vice President for Research at Texas A&M University in College Station.

"Attendees will be from a wide variety of backgrounds, from mathematical modelers, to hydrologists, to hydrodynamicists, to environmental engineers, to experts in extraction of fluids from fractured carbonates, to users of models in the field, to policy makers and agency leadership."

The conference's first two days are open to the public without registration fees.
