Qatar’s most established smart cities event, Arab Future Cities Summit 2016, in its fifth year now, will be held on 11th and 12th April 2016. The 2015 edition of the summit was inaugurated by Eng. Abdulla Al Subaie, Managing Director, Qatar Rail in the presence of Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief New Business Officer, Ooredoo attracting over 30 sponsors and more than 400 participants from the public and private sector across the GCC.

With sustainable urban development as the main theme, the Summit broadly covered topics ranging from smarter cities enabled through IoT, energy efficiency and government initiatives, to sustainable infrastructure, ICT innovation and telecommunications.

In line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, the government has ushered in a new phase of development, incorporating smart technology, state-of-the-art infrastructure and services to provide its citizens a smart, sustainable and efficient future that ensures an improved quality of life. Leveraging the technological convergence will provide a boost to the economic growth and this year’s Summit will focus on making smart cities a reality with topics such as Smart Connectivity, Smart Mobility and Transportation, Internet of Everything (IoE), Economical and Sustainable Smart Vehicles, Building Automation, Lusail City’s Innovations, Cyber Security and many more.

Encouraging cross learning amongst technologists, developers, urban planners and researchers, investors, engineers, policy professionals and the local government, the two-day Summit will provide a unique opportunity for presenting ideas pertaining to smart city development and technology deployment. A series of engaging keynote sessions, interactive panel discussions and extensive exchange of ideas during networking sessions will lead to a shared understanding and demonstration on how to harness opportunities.

The two-day Summit will broadly reflect the many new developments arising in the State of Qatar. The 5th Annual Arab Future Cities Summit 2016 will be a convergence of great minds in the field of smart city development to discuss path-breaking ideas and share the experience on how to take the best benefit of sustainable infrastructure.
