X- Ray Fashion is an immersive virtual reality experience that guides the viewer through different stages of garment production; from cotton shop to sweatshop; and from catwalk to consumer purchase and to the afterlife of the garment.
The piece packs a powerful punch exposing the impacts of the 2.5 trillion dollar fashion industry, which is responsible for 10% of the global carbon emissions, 20% of wastewater and a quarter of the world's insecticides.
Directed by Italian born and fashion photographer Francesco Carrozzini, the film concept was developed by the Danish VR company MANND for the World Bank Group's global climate communications and partnership program. It was co-produced by Vulcan Productions with the support of Alcantara, a certified carbon neutral fashion design company.
