Goan singer Sonia Shirsat will perform on Friday at Al Arabi Football Stadium in Doha at the World Goa Day, being organised by Goan Welfare Association.
The show will begin at 3pm. Gates will open at 2:30 pm. Rated as one of the best Fadista (Fado singer) in India, Sonia has been singing professionally across the world for the last decade.
The singer is a recipient of “Yuva Shrujan Award,” the highest award conferred by the state of Goa in the youth category, for her contribution in taking Goan music to an
international level.
Sonia has lent her voice to various Konkani albums. She is a semi-finalist on ZEE TV in the programme Sa Re Ga Ma in the Band special in 2000.
Her first solo concert, Mundo Fado, was in
Lisbon, Portugal, in 2008.
Agnelo Rodrigues and Lance D’Souza will provide the music for the Doha concert. Soon after her performance, Al Ahli and Al Rayyan will play their match for Qatar Stars League at 4pm.
