Qatar is now among the 60 countries worldwide that joined The Metropolitan Opera High Definition Live Series. Giving the opportunity to spectators to experience grand opera straight from the stage of the Met in New York, Katara will present 11 operas for the season 2012-2013.
The season opens on the 13th of October with Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore, starring Anna Netrebko, Matthew Polenzani, Mariusz Kwiecien and Ambrogio Maestri, who also forms part of Aida cast that will be presented on the 18th of October at Katara’s amphitheatre. Anna Netrebko and Mathew Polenzani star in Barlett Sher’s new production of one of the greatest comic gems in opera, as the fickle Adina and her besotted Nemorino. Mariusz Kwiecien is the blustery sergeant Belcore and Ambrogio Maestri is Dulcamara, the loveable quack and dispenser of the elixir. Maurizio Benini conducts.
