Katara hosts Gala Concert for European day in Qatar
Doha, November 5th, 2011: Katara, Cultural Village Foundation and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland bring to Qatar a unique classical music concert with the participation of renowned Polish musicians and artists.
The Polish-Swedish piano duo was formed by Tamara Granat and Daniel Propper in Kuwait in 2008. The duo quickly received critical acclaim and since 2009, recorded a multitude of CDs of classical music for ‘four hands and two pianos’. The European Day special performance by the Piano Duo will feature classical pieces by Chopin, Mozart, Debusy and Polish composers Czerny and Scharwenka.
The gala concert will conclude with the Vocal Recital and Monodrama “Diva” performed by mezzosoprano Alicja Wegorzewska-Whiskerd. With a beautiful mezzo voice, Alicija has an extensive record of international opera productions. Together with Tamara Granat and a virtuoso violinist Bogdan Kierejsza, Alicja Wegorzewska-Whiskerd will present a unique form of theater and opera performance.
President of Katara, Abdulrahman Al-Khulaifi said: “Katara’s many unique events showcase the diverse cultures of the world in Qatar and this is yet another example. Poland has a fine tradition of classical music and look forward to future collaborations with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland that feature such incredible talent.”
The European Day Gala Concert will take place at the KATARA Opera House on Monday 14th of November at 7:30pm. The tickets for the performance are available at Virgin Megastores.
