In this lecture, we will discuss the myth of the "Flood” mentioned in the Epic of “Gilgamesh” and how the region of the Arabian Gulf (Delmon) was described in this legend and in the Mesopotamian legends as the pure, sacred land of immortality. The epic of Gilgamesh is a poetic Sumerian epic written in cuneiform script in Akkadian on twelve muddy tablets discovered in 1853. The lecture will be given by Dr. Haya Al-Thani, Director of Museum Affairs at the Qatar National Museum, and will be moderated by Dr. Sherine Al-Manshawi from Qatar University.
