The Sensory Gardening course is a series of 4 sessions focusing on developing the senses of children with sensory issues. Hadiqaa gives them an opportunity to explore all the known senses (sight, sound, taste, touch and smell), along with the little-known senses, such as balance and body awareness. We incorporate calming and alerting sensory experiences such as different colours, textures, smells, and sounds. Giving users a safe space to develop and grow.
Gardening helps children to develop and recognize themselves without even realizing it. They can feel the texture of soil, seeds, flowers, and petals. They get to smell all the amazing flower scents and see all the colourful petals. It also helps develop hand-eye coordination and builds physical strength. Gardening is quite physical and requires the body to work hard digging, carrying, lifting, sieving, watering, etc.
As children garden, they develop important motor skills that will help them improve their senses and creativity and increase social skills and self-confidence. Gardening also reduces stress and helps children cope with anxiety and frustration.
Note: If we have a child who doesn't like gardening, we can teach them to use it for nature connection and relaxation strategies. So, whenever they need support, they consider plants their best friends!
Addressed to kids aged 4-12 years.
Activities: basic gardening, mixing soil and repotting, watering, spraying and a plant-related craft.
