The First annual GCC Handicrafts Exhibition will open to visitors at Sheraton Doha Hotel Al Majlis Hall on Tuesday.
The five-day expo is being organised under the theme ‘Woven with the Thread of Heritage’ under the patronage of GCC ministers of tourism.
It will take place on the sidelines of the Second GCC Tourism Ministerial Meeting and showcase works of 30 craftsmen from the GCC.
“Qatar is proud to host the first exhibition, showcasing varied and exceptional expressions of a shared heritage,” said Saif Al Kuwari, Director, International Cooperation, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).
“A year ago, the exhibition was a suggestion made at a meeting, and today it is a budding success that will grow with every cycle.
“We look forward to taking action with our partners to turn more of our ideas into reality,” added Al Kuwari
To grow cultural attractions, the exhibition aims to portray GCC culture and heritage. It comes after an initial agreement during the first GCC Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Kuwait last year.
The exhibition is open from 9am to 1pm and from 4pm to 9pm.
