2016 marks 400 years since Shakespeare’s death, so across the world, Britain is hosting hundreds of #ShakespeareLives events. There are performances by the world famous Reduced Shakespeare Company, a screening of Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing and Shakespeare in Music performed by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.

Attend events and WIN two direct return flights to Birmingham, courtesyof Qatar Airways, plus accommodation and a Shakespeare Experience in the UK. Entry only via attending an event!

What: Café Scientifique: The Origins of Qatar and its Historic Towns

Tell Me More: Join us to discover the origins of Qatar as seen through recent archaeological investigations conducted by Qatar Museums and UCL Qatar. Professor Robert Carter and Dr Jose Carvajal Lopez will highlight their recent investigations, surveys and excavations in Doha, Fuwairit and Umm-alMa’a as they discuss the heritage of Qatar. Set within the context of regional trade, settlement and cultural exchange, the discussion moves from the earliest recorded use of the name Qatar through to modern day urban development.
