The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has announced that registration for the 23rd Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani Holy Quran contest begins on Tuesday through October 15.
The contest, in third year, is open to citizens and expatriates — males and females.
People may register from 8am to 12.30pm and 4pm to 8pm at Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Hall in Freej Kleeb.
Participants will compete in memorisation of one of the last five parts of the Holy Quran.
The organising committee said registration can be completed in the presence of contestants or their representatives and those who participated in previous contests can sign up via telephone.
Participants will receive text messages stating the completion of registration, their registration reference number and memorisation category and other details.
The panel has set conditions. Contestant must be a citizen or resident of Qatar, need to show a copy of their Qatari ID or passport, along with a recent photograph (for males only).
First winner will receive QR100,000, and the second, third, fourth and fifth positions in each of the three groups will get QR85,000, QR70,000, QR60,000 and QR50,000, respectively. QNA
