Description
Museums have been undergoing considerable changes in past decades, moving away from the old concept of being depositories of treasured objects to becoming places of social engagement, learning and entertainment. But they have also assumed many other roles, becoming more present outside the walls of their buildings. How are museums evolving and transforming? What makes a museum relevant and forward-looking? Ultimately, what makes a museum ‘great’ in the ever shifting local and global contexts that clash, intertwine and inform each other? The directors of some of the world’s most prominent museums will share their views about the current, and possible future, roles of museums as cultural institutions and places of social interaction.
