As part of its world-class artist residency programme designed to nurture, energise and promote Qatar’s artistic and creative community, the Fire Station provides up to twenty artists residing in Qatar with the opportunity to develop their art practices through access to resources such as a fabrication lab, wood shop, and exhibition spaces, as well as support and artistic guidance from established local artists. Open Studios is an annual event held at Fire Station where the public can visit the studios, meet the residents of its annual nine-month residency programme, and view their artworks and current projects.
In this edition, Open Studios will include participants from multiple active programs at the Fire Station such as Artists in Residence (AIR7), Curator in Residence, Ruwad residency, and Fannon/Emerge residency (a collaboration with VCUarts Qatar). During the event, studios will be open, and artists will be present to showcase their recent work and research. The studios are located on the first, third, fourth and fifth floors of the main building.
