‘Hekayat Khaleejiya’ is a quarterly screening series dedicated to showcasing cinematic voices from the Gulf region. Taking place at the Museum of Islamic Art, the series presents films accompanied by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. It’s a great chance to gain insight into their work and process.

October's installment brings four notable Khaleeji short films and their directors to Doha for two screenings:
Friday, October 11 at 7pm
Saturday, October 12 at 7pm

THIS IS LONDON (Mohammed Rashed BuAli / UAE)
A couple's mission to send a photograph to their son in London should be an easy task, but when the wife refuses to go to the studio, the photographer has to think of innovative ways to capture the perfect shot. Unfortunately, something keeps getting in the way.

SABEEL (Khalid Al Mahmood / UAE)
A story of two young boys who spend their days growing and selling vegetables on the roadside to buy medicine for their sick grandmother. The road is their livelihood, and also the road that will determine their destiny.

SANCTITY (Ahd / Saudi Arabia)
Areej, a pregnant, young Saudi widow, will endure anything to protect her unborn child. A bold story about going against social customs, and trying to establish a friendship between men and women in a community that insists on gender segregation.

BADER (Sara Al-Saadi, Maaria Assami, Latifa Al-Darwish / Qatar, USA, Syria)
‘Bader’ is the story of a young boy trying to find his place in an all-boys’ elementary school. The documentary highlights the boy’s struggle with his identity, and how he comes to rely on poetry to help him overcome his challenges.
