Fashion in Film: Costume as Character

In any film, costume can convey information about character before a word of dialogue is spoken – indeed, some costumes are so iconic, they come to define a particular role in the popular imagination.

DFI Cinema’s Fashion in Film series launches with Costume as Character, a look at the art of costume design in cinema.

The screenings will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Stella Bruzzi, a Professor of Film and Television Studies at Warwick University and a Fellow of the British Academy. Stella is one of the foremost international scholars on costume and fashion in film.
