Katara Art Center will be launching a fashion pop-up store by Indian based fashion designer Ayushman Mitra for his brand "BOBO Calcutta" on the 12th of November,2018. Ayushman will be showcasing his latest collection "le jardin exotique" alongside some of his paintings. Ayushman has flown from Calcutta specifically for this event.

Bobo ( Ayushman Mitra ) is a multi disciplinary artist who works with mixed media on various fabrics and forms. In 2016 he launched his fashion house which is the extension of his artworks into apparel. He believes in making art available to people in the form of one of a kind garments. His art transcends into fashion through bold colors and abstract forms which explode in chaotic symphony.

He works extensively with craftsmen from India who develop lavish hand embroidery patterns that adorn his garments.

Bobo has been in the field for a decade and continues to be a part of various exhibits, fashion weeks and collaborations in India and around the world.

"le jardin exotique" which translates into The Exotic Garden is made up of a series of paintings in mixed media on canvas that explore the mood of a mythical garden that is overburdened by endless bloom signifying the intimacy shared by star-crossed lovers.

The use of fluid colors and abstract forms with cubist and expressionist influences develop the painting into a mirage of romanticism and opulence. Elements of tropical flora and fauna merged with aggressive brush strokes bringing a sense of exoticism.

The paintings then are developed into fine couture in form of collectable garments than can be termed as wearable art.
