Among the highlights is a cricket tournament involving some of the top players drawn from India, Pakistan and South Africa among others.
The matches will be played on December 16 and 18, according to the organisers. Among those who have confirmed their participation include Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), Yousef Pathan and Mohamed Kaif (India) and Shahid Afridi (Pakistan).
Apart from the cricket matches, a series of events that reflect the country’s heritage, culture, and traditions are also organised jointly by the Ministry of Interior, and Ibn Ajayan Projects, which runs the Asian Town.
A traditional Arabic sword dance will be held between 6 and 9 pm, in front of the Plaza Mall there on December 18. Events are also held at the outside yard at the cricket stadium. Cultural events will also be held at the Asian Town Amphitheater.
An “Asian Musical Night”, involving Indian and Nepal artistes is also on schedule. Indian singers Deepak Mahan, Ravindra Upadhyay, Pratiksha Kulshrestha, mimicry artist Dharashi Beradiya and Nepali singers Shiv Bahadur Pariyar and Muna Thapa Magar will perform. Musical shows are planned for December 17 and 18.
A classic cars expo (December 17 and 18), School scouts and community teams performances, motorcycle (December 18) are also on cards.
