STK Doha, located on the 23rd floor of the posh Ritz-Carlton Doha, delivers on its promise of a modern take on American steakhouse cuisine. The bright ‘Dare to Be’ neon wall that awaits you when you get out of the elevator will captivate you and lure you inside.
Haven’t been to STK? Here’s why it’s “not your daddy’s steakhouse.”
With plenty of seating, the steakhouse is modern and chic, with its trendy vibe and alluring architectural details. The dark interiors scream sophistication, while the curved cream leather banquettes are set against windows that provide you with a gorgeous view of the city.
As their tagline says, STK Doha is not your typical steakhouse. The restaurant and lounge give guests an upscale dining experience through its creatively crafted cuisine made with the finest ingredients and meals paired with enhanced beverages.
While you’re snacking on that complimentary bread, choose from an assortment of starters to kick off your dinner. Share the Lil’ Brgs with someone or have it all to yourself. The wagyu beef sliders paired with truffled special sauce will have you craving for more.
For the seafood lovers, don’t miss the Baja Style Fish Tacos, which is also suitable for sharing, and the Grilled Octopus. The Hamour fillet, enrobed in just the right amount of batter, is crispy and contrasts with the cucumber salad. Each taco portion is also just enough to fit it all in your mouth in one bite.
The grilled octopus, meanwhile, is a play on textures and flavors. The lemon vinaigrette adds a tang to the smoky sweetness of the octopus.
On a weekday night, drop by at STK from 5 pm to 8 pm and enjoy happy hour bites at reduced prices. We tried Potato Skins, Salt and pepper calamari with chipotle aioli; boneless chicken pops with STK Bold, and Nachos with guacamole, salsa & sour cream.
The Calamari is one of the night’s winners as it was perfectly seasoned & fried, and that chipotle aioli complements well with the small morsels of squid. If you’re going with friends, you can’t go wrong with any of the bites. They would make an excellent pairing to STK’s unique beverages and comes in ample portions.
The Black Cod may look unassuming, but pour on that sauce, and you’ll be surprised with a kick thanks to the togarashi and chili thread. Don’t forget to scoop it up with a spoonful of wild rice and a little bok choy for a balanced bite.
The Corn Fed Half Chicken is a comfort meal. It’s salty, savory, and goes well with the fried crushed potatoes and Colombo sauce.
Of course, we can’t go to a steakhouse without trying their meats. We tried both the Australian MBS6 Fillet and the USDA Prime New York Strip. You can try the STK Grill items in small, medium, or large sizes, as well as sharing and delicacy portions.
The steaks are cooked per your doneness preference, and you’ll get to choose from 7 different kinds of sauces - STK, STK Bold, Bearnaise, Peppercorn, Mushroom Cream, Jus, and Chimichurri. If you’re confused about which sauce to go with, try the signature sauces - STK or STK Bold.
Don’t miss out on the sides, especially the Parmesan Truffled Chips, which is a great match for your grilled meat, or the family-style Mac and Cheese with its ooey-gooey, cheesy goodness.
To end the night on a sweet note, order the Giant Junk Chalice to share (or solo if you dare!) and reminisce your childhood with this combination of all things that we loved and still love if you didn't outgrow your sweet tooth. Under the fluffy cloud of pink candy floss are vanilla & caramel pecan ice cream, popcorn, marshmallows, hot caramel sauce, and brownie. It’s a dish that will make you whip out your phone camera and remember it for days.
If you prefer to go the classic route, the New York cheesecake is always a winner. It’s creamy, subtly sweet, and the raspberry sorbet and coulis adds the right amount of tanginess. It’s a dish that is undoubtedly perfect for spring/summer.
Like the food, the service was of a high standard. The service staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the night.
Aside from ala carte, you can also opt for Dare to Brunch on Fridays, Saturday Roast, Happy Hour (Sunday - Thursday), or Lipstick Tuesday (for ladies).
