Sora, which means ‘sky’ in Japanese, is a modern restaurant and lounge that’s soaring high in the sky on the 21st
floor of the Park Hyatt Doha overlooking Msheireb Downtown. Not only is the Japanese food and the ambience at Sora outstanding, but the view from its terrace is also one of the best in Doha.
Overlooking Msheireb Downtown, you’ll get to see Doha from a completely new and different angle. The panoramic view from the Sora terrace is one you might not have seen in Doha. It’s beautiful. You’ll get to see the Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, Fanar Centre, Corniche, the Doha skyline, the Amiri Diwan, Al Bidda Park and so much more.
You should try the Sora San Setto from 4 pm - 7 pm (Monday to Saturday), so you can watch the sun go down as you bask in its golden glory and take in the mesmerizing view of the 'sky'. You can feast on a selection of carefully crafted Japanese favourites in an iconic setting.
Sora's menu has already earned it the FACT Dining award for the 'Best Japanese Restaurant 2021', and rightly so. The menu is made up of a balance of small sharing dishes, sashimi, sushi and Japanese culinary art of Robata, which is short for 'Robatayaki' and Japanese for 'fireside cooking'.
Robata grill at Sora includes meats, seafood and vegetables grilled on charcoal on a Robata grill that's wide and flat. Sora's Robata is grilled to perfection by skilled chefs who know exactly how long to keep the meat, seafood or vegetables on the grill even though the temperature of the coal can't be adjusted. The result is food that's soft on the inside and crisp on the outside with a smokey flavour.
Do try the Wagyu M5 Beef Striploin, Lamb Shoulder Takitory, Grilled Salmon and the buttery goodness of the Whole Lobster-Yaki. You won't be disappointed as each of these is grilled to Robata perfection and will melt in your mouth.
When it comes to Sushi, Sashimi and Maki, Sora is right up there at the top of the list of must-eat items. You'll understand why as soon as you put a piece of either of them in your mouth and taste the burst of flavours, feel the freshness, and relish the aftertaste.
Crispy Tuna Oshi, Shakana Naruto Maki Rolls and Oyako Maki Rolls are just some of the most delicious items you'll find on the menu!
The dishes on Sora's new menu are perfect for sharing with loved ones, so you can order more from the menu and enjoy the type of Japanese cuisine that's part of Sora's uniqueness. Each sharing dish has its very own texture that will feel like magic in your mouth.
There's plenty to choose from whether it's the Japanese Style Hummus, Crispy Mochi Chicken, Crispy Ice Salad, Kari Koroket, Vegan Scallops, Chicken Cha-Han or the special Sora Maki that's one of the new Maki Rolls on the menu!
Dessert just has to be the Zen Garden when you dine at Sora. It's the perfect way to end the meal at Sora and bring you to your zen mode after an exciting and adventurous culinary journey through Sora's unique menu and modern Japanese cuisine brought to life with Japan's traditional cooking methods.
The Sora Zen Garden represents calm, serenity and relaxation which is exactly how you will feel at the end of your Sora experience. It's made entirely of edible ingredients with even the 'sand' being made of coloured sugar! It's the Head Chef's masterpiece and the pride of Sora's dessert menu. If you're lucky, the Chef may just serve it to you himself in style and splendour. Definitely, something that should be tried. It's big enough for two!
So, when you feel like soaring high in the 'sky', Sora is just the place you want to be. The ambience, the view and the food come together to give you a complete experience!
