Samboosa

Samboosa is made up of a dough that is folded into a conical shape and filled with spiced meat, cheese or vegetables. It is almost impossible to just stop at one samboosa. Regag

Traditional Arabic crepe or regag is a popular street food in Qatar. The procedure involves preparing a mixture of flour and water with a pinch of salt added to form a wheat batter. The batter is then poured into a hot flat frying pan and spread evenly using a pastry knife or spatula. Cooking time is for about 30 to 60 seconds. You can eat the bread on its own or fill it with spreads like cheese, Nutella and even fruits. You can usually find them at Souq Waqif and the most eaten flavour is cream cheese.

Luqaimat

Luqaimat is an extremely popular dessert and street food that is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It consists of butter, milk, flour, sugar, saffron and cardamom. The batter is then deep-fried and dipped in a sweet syrup or honey before serving. Shawarma

Shawarma is yet another famous street food, you must try. It is made up of meat (chicken, lamb, beef, sometimes camel or duck) is cut into slices and stacked. It is slowly roasted on a turning rotisserie. The cooked meat is then stuffed and served with pita bread, different sauces, pickled vegetables and fries. Here are some of the places to eat this delicious creation from in Qatar.

Karak

A cup of fragrant and sweet karak is something you have to try. This is an iconic drink of the country and is of the most popular drinks among locals and residents alike. This tea is flavoured with spices, condensed milk, cardamom, saffron and ginger. Tea Time is one of the best known spots in Qatar for karak.

Falafel

This is a popular snack and is a must try in Qatar. It is made up of chickpeas, beans, garlic, coriander, parsley and tahini which are ground together, molded into balls or flat cutlets and then deep fried. They can be eaten as it is or in a pita bread, along with pickled vegetables and salad. Fatayer

Kebab or kofta is one you must definitely try in Qatar. Many restaurants in Doha serve excellent grilled meat along with different breads and salad. Visit Shujaa Restaurant at Souq Waqif for this!

Kunafa

Kunafa is a delicious dessert made with sheets of filo pastry that is soaked in a sugar syrup, and is layered with nuts and cheese! Al Aker Sweets & Bakeries, Dr. Kanafa, Nafeeseh Sweets in Qatar are popular spots to try this sweet.

    Pani Puri

    Though pani puri is a popular snack in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, it si also widely found and eaten in Qatar. It consists of a hollow puri (flat bread) that is deep-fried until crispy, then stuffed with potatoes and chickpeas along with onions, spices and mint-flavored spicy water and/or tamarind chutney.
