From a small dream of having his own pizzeria, Fabio’s opened his own restaurant in Doha in 2010. Today, it’s one of the well-loved places to go to for pizza and authentic Italian food in Qatar. If you haven’t heard of Fabio’s yet, you’re in luck because the ILQ team recently visited Fabio’s, and here’s our dining experience.
We started our meal with a colorful and fresh Mixed Green Salad, followed by Arancini. These golden balls were crispy on the outside and filled with flavorful rice, cheese, and peas.
The next item we tried is one of their pasta made from scratch - Gnoccheti Sardi Alla Bolognese. You’ll surely taste the freshness of each morsel with every bite. Coupled that with the Bolognese sauce and a sprinkling of freshly grated parmesan, it’s surely a match made in pasta heaven.
The Pasta Cherry Meat Balls was surely a delight, as the meatballs were so flavorful and the sauce made just right, we couldn’t stop eating it.
There’s really something about the smell of a freshly baked pizza made from scratch that lures you in. We were able to try three different pizzas from their substantial pizza offering - Fabio’s, Favolosa, and Campagnola. All of the pizzas’ crust was just the right amount of thickness and baked just right.
We can definitely see why Fabio’s pizza is a crowd favorite. The combination of Bresaola beef, fresh rocket leaves, and shaved parmesan cheese on a bed of tomato sauce is a winner. It’s a classic combination that you’ll surely want to taste again and again.
The Favolosa was a delight to see once it landed on our table. The big ball of burrata in the middle was calling our name. The saltiness of the smoked salmon contrasted with the milky, buttery flavor of the burrata. Add in broccoli, fresh onion, and dill, this pizza is surely a treat for your taste buds.
Although stuffed at this point, we couldn't resist trying the colorful Campagnola pizza, which has broccoli, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, fresh mushroom, onions, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. Veggie lovers will surely love this pizza.
Of course, there’s always room for Dolce (dessert). While you must not miss the chance of trying their tiramisu made in-house with ingredients from Italy, you should also try one of their ‘healthier’ desserts. The Cremoso di Yogurt & Fragole is made from layers of rich and filling honey granola mixed with chia seeds, fresh yoghurt, strawberry jam, and fresh strawberry slices.
There are many pizza spots in Qatar, but what separates Fabio’s is that they’re a family-run business by Italians no less, so you know that it’s legit. The whole family is very hands-on with the business, and there’s even a pizza named after each of the family members! They use a mix of Italian and local brands for their ingredients.
They have everything from Zuppe (soup) to Dolce (dessert) and everything in between. There are more than 70 kinds of pizza on their menu. Can’t finish the whole pizza by yourself? Their pizza also comes in a smaller size (Baby Pizza). You can also find the new items on their menu in a separate category (NEW ITEMS). And the best part is you can customize your pizza by adding additional toppings!
Fabio’s also has its own garden on-site where they pick some of the fresh produce they use as ingredients. They have herbs like basil and rosemary and fresh produce like tomatoes, bell peppers, and leafy greens.
