Mandarin Oriental, Doha celebrates Qatar National Day with a ceremonial cake-cutting officiated by Mr Martin Schnider, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha, Mr Mohammed Al-Buainain, Acting Chief Officer - Design & Delivery of Msheireb Properties and Ms Belinda Holland, Director of Qatar Academy Msheireb. The ceremony witnessed a performance of the National Anthem proudly recited by the students of Qatar Academy Msheireb.

Qatar National Day, also known as Founder’s Day, is celebrated on 18 December to commemorate the country’s unification in 1878. In anticipation of Mandarin Oriental, Doha’s first Qatar National Day celebration, Martin Schnider, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha, said: “We are delighted to be hosting our first Qatar National Day celebration on Barahat Msheireb in the heart of Msheireb Downtown Doha. It is our great pleasure to honour and celebrate Qatar National Day with the presence and support of Msheireb Properties and Qatar Academy Msheireb.”

The ceremony was a celebration of Qatari tradition and one of bringing together communities as one in honour of this great nation. The student’s choir from Qatar Academy Msheireb performed the National Anthem which was followed by the ceremonial cake-cutting. Guests celebrated this joyous occasion at a reception hosted in IZU restaurant’s outdoor terrace located on Barahat Msheireb, the largest covered open-air square in the Middle East.
