Due to COVID-19, a number of countries have issued restrictions on entry for overseas travelers resulting in flight changes. Because of these, Qatar Airways has given its affected passengers the option to re-book their tickets to alternative dates or destinations, or request a full refund without charge.

Qatar Airways has posted the following updates on its official Twitter account today.

1. For customers who wish to receive a travel voucher equal to the value of their ticket – an additional 10% will be added.

2. Customers can get a cash refund in the form of payment they used when purchasing their tickets. It can take up to 30 days to process a cash refund, whereas travel vouchers can be processed immediately.

    3. Qatar Airways has stated that travel vouchers will now be emailed to passengers directly to help speed up the process. The full statement reads:

To help speed up the process of issuing travel vouchers for customers that have had their flights cancelled, a voucher will now be emailed to you automatically, so that you don't need to request it from us.
Please note, this will not apply if you have booked via a third party. Please contact your travel agent to redeem your voucher if you did not book with us directly.

    4. It has also clarified that customers will still receive a travel voucher even if they have not received a response from Qatar Airways, provided that they requested at least 3 days before travel.

A lot of customers are asking us if they will still receive a travel voucher if they have requested one 3 days before travel, but their original flight date has passed and they have not heard from us. The answer is yes.

Due to huge volumes of calls and enquiries, it is taking us longer than we would like to process travel vouchers, but we will honour every single request. So if you haven't heard back from us yet, don't worry - your voucher is on its way.

Qatar Airways Support has also posted on March 23, 2020 that all customers with existing booking should update their passenger contact details through "Manage Booking" on the website.

Qatar Airways has also extended its flexibility policy. In a tweet, it said: "If you have booked or plan to book tickets for travel up to 30 September 2020, you can change your dates or exchange your ticket for a voucher."
