Like all airlines around the world, Qatar Airways has to balance the needs of its millions of passengers with the operational challenges it is currently facing due to entry restrictions imposed by Qatar and a number of other countries, according to its website.
Qatar Airways is working closely with global and national authorities to understand the latest advice and guidance on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and operate its services accordingly. The safety, security and good health of Qatar Airways passengers and employees is the award winning airline's highest priority, and it remains committed to this even during this critical time in Qatar when the whole country is working towards stopping the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result of the 401 confirmed cases of the virus in Qatar, many steps have been taken to ensure it doesn't spread further. One of these steps is suspending flights from all over the world for two weeks starting from 18 March 2020, and restricting air travel as much as possible.
Affected passengers can re-book their tickets to alternative dates or destinations, or request a full refund without charge. For tickets outside of those dates or to countries not covered by this policy, normal fare rules apply for re-bookings or cancellations.
If you have already booked or planning to book for travel up to 30 June 2020, receive greater flexibility up to three days prior to departure by having the option to change your travel date free of charge, or exchange for a future travel voucher*. This includes award flights since we value every Qmile you have earned with us. (Terms and Conditions apply)
Under the instructions of the Ministry of Public Health, from Wednesday 18 March, entry to Qatar will only be allowed for Qatari nationals, who will be required to enter quarantine for a period of 14 days.
Passport holders of other nations will no longer be granted entry for a period of 14 days, after which the restrictions will be reviewed. Passengers with onward connections through HIA will be accepted for travel and Qatar Airways’ global network will continue its operation for transit passengers as normal. Cargo operations remain unaffected.
