The death toll from China's coronavirus infectious disease reached 1,600 on Sunday. China said that 2,009 new infections were reported on Sunday, with 68,000 cases now reported worldwide. More than two dozen countries have confirmed cases and several have suspended trade and travel links with China in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.
The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed Saturday its concern regarding the increase of the novel Coronavirus cases.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom said yesterday on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference that the organization was concerned with the increase in infections China, and that some of the healthcare workers were affected as well. He added that WHO is continuing to work with China on containing the spread of the virus, praising the Chinese measures in that regard.
Earlier Qatar's Ministry of Public Health confirmed that no cases of new Coronavirus have been detected in the country.
The Ministry called on the public not to pay attention to any information not issued by the competent authorities, and the necessity of taking information from its official reliable sources.
