Dr Soha Al Bayat Head of Vaccination at the Ministry of Public Health

Dr. Soha Al Bayat, head of vaccinations at the Department of Health Protection and Transitional Disease Control at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), stressed that viruses are at their peak during the winter period, so weather fluctuations play a role, but the main reason for the high rate of infection with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) is due to the laxity of some segments of society in adhering to precautionary measures, where an increase in family gatherings and social events such as weddings has been observed, pointing out that the laxity of precautionary measures contributes to the number of infections of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) virus.

"The negligence of some in precautionary measures is due to the availability of the vaccine against the new coronavirus, as the availability of the vaccine does not in any way mean that the precautionary measures for those who have received the vaccine are tolerated, so the availability of the vaccine is not a justification for family gatherings, and social events that have become overcrowded, the vaccine produces immunity up to 95% and requires a period of time to give effective results ranging from one to two weeks after obtaining the second dose, If the person who received the vaccine is exposed to an infected person before it takes effect there is a possibility of infection, but after the two-week period the infection is likely to decrease, so the MoPH always stresses to abide by precautionary measures even if the vaccine is obtained, because the one who received the vaccine does not know whether it is among the 95% or 5%, because the response of people to the vaccine varies from person to person, so it is important to protect ourselves and others by adhering to the procedures. Precautionary measures such as the use of protective face masks, avoiding crowded places, as well as taking care of safe distance, with washing of hands with soap and soap or the use of alcoholic sanitizers, and in order to achieve community immunity must be vaccinated between 75% - 80% of the community in order to reduce the strength of the virus in the transmission of infection, to be mostly immune and antibodies, the infected is reduced, and then the precautionary measures will be eased, based on an official decision by the concerned authorities."

Dr. Bayat stressed that precautionary measures and adherence to them contributed to the reduction of seasonal influenza infections due to the use of protective face masks, and thanks to social distancing, and also reduced Asthma crises in people with asthma due to the use of face masks that have a role in avoiding dust, so these measures have had a positive effect on protecting people from viruses such as influenza seasonal, and not only from the new coronavirus "COVID-19", health habits reduced seasonal flu and asthma crises.

"The number of cases of new coronavirus infections has increased, but it is not as high as some countries, but we are seeing an increase in the number of cases of new coronavirus, as well as an 85% increase in the number of infected people who need access to hospitals and intensive care units, but we are keen to raise awareness among the community to comply with precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of outbreaks, and we want to control the number of cases, and we are keen to raise awareness in the community to comply with precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of outbreaks, and we want to control the number of cases, and we are sure to raise awareness in the community to comply with precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of outbreaks, and we want to control the number of cases, and we are sure to raise awareness in the community to comply with precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of outbreaks, and we want to control the number of cases, and we want to control the number of cases, and we are keen to raise awareness among the community to comply with precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of outbreaks, and we want what we want is to control the number of cases, and we are keen to raise awareness "At this point, the awareness of individuals in society can lead to a second wave of the epidemic."

"The new strain of the virus has not reached the country, but I want to make it clear that these strains are the virus itself and are not more dangerous than the current virus, but they are faster and more widespread and The fastest-growing infection, and I assure the community that Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, contracted by the MoPH for the new coronavirus vaccine, have conducted studies on the efficacy of their vaccines on the strain. The virus has been shown to be effective on the new strain, because change is not fundamental change but a slight change."

Dr. Bayat pointed out that the role of the seasonal influenza vaccine, is that when a person gets the immune flu weakens, if the immunity decreases, then the resistance of the person's body to the coronavirus or any virus decreases, and in this case the immune condition is low and if the person is able to do enough, the condition can double, but if the person gets the flu vaccine here the person has strong immunity, then he can fight the coronavirus, and at the same time if the person is infected the complications will be less.

Dr. Al Bayat called on members of the community to be more patient to overcome this exceptional phase that is passing through the whole world and not to Qatar, appealing to the age groups of young people to abide by precautionary measures because they may be the cause of transmission to an older or pregnant woman, so it is important to adhere to precautionary measures, and to avoid gatherings and family visits of large numbers so as not to be a source of infection, as controlling the spread of the epidemic requires the efforts of all groups of society to protect the person himself, and to protect his loved ones and relatives.
