The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced on 24 August 2021 that Qatar's National COVID-19 Vaccination Program has reached a significant milestone as two million people in the country are now fully vaccinated.

Reaching the milestone of two million fully vaccinated people comes as MOPH announced that 4,287,922 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program. 80.5% of the total population have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 70.8% of the total population have received two vaccine doses.

The latest statistics published by 'Our World in Data', a scientific online publication compiling COVID-19 vaccination data from around the world, shows Qatar is ranked second in the world for the percentage of the population that have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, among countries with a population of more than one million.

The Ministry of Public Health explained that the success of Qatar's vaccination program to date has been thanks to the overwhelming support of the community.

However, the Ministry said there are still a small number of people who are eligible for the vaccine who have not yet accepted their invitation to get vaccinated.

With the delta variant posing a greater threat to people in Qatar and around the world, the Ministry said it is extremely important that as many people as possible are vaccinated. The Ministry urged people who are not yet vaccinated to get the vaccine and play their part in beating COVID-19.
